Girls' Camp
Cheerleading, drama, black-hand lights, and martial arts. These were just some of the activities offered at this year's girls' camp located at Pincecrest Camp and Conference Center, a 300 acre retreat center, just five miles from Fredericktown, MO. Girls' camp is a wonderful five-day adventure offered by the Missouri District Church of the Nazarene. Girls from the ages of 2nd grade through 6th grade spend Monday thru Friday, having fun through their selected activities, swimming, making friends, and attending an uplifting chapel service two times each day. This year's theme was Warrior Chicks with Missie Carvell as the guest speaker. She taught the girls that they could find true freedom in Christ and that we are in a war as Christians that we must be prepared to fight. With her zany sense of humor and evident love of Christ, Missie captivated the girls and many made commitments to follow Christ and be "warrior chicks" for Him.
It is not only a rewarding experience for the girls, but for the counselors as well. This was my third year to go as counselor, and it was just a fantastic time. I learned a lot from listening to Missie as well as being around the girls. There is nothing else quite like the trust and bond that comes from spending time investing in the life of a child. This year, I had my daughter as well as three other girls in my group. Some of the girls don't come from Christian homes or happy situations and they are starved for love and affection. One little girl especially tore at my heart strings. By the end of the week, she was sitting in my lap every chapel service and making sure to get my attention as often as possible. So, while camp is filled with fun, games, and lots of ice cream it is also a great place for these girls to
learn about Jesus, about who they are in Christ, and about telling their friends about Christ.

Boys' Camp
Pinecrest is not just a camp for girls. It also hosts several other events such as women's retreat, men's retreat, family camp, teen camp, and boys' camp. This year, we had three boys and one of the boy's cousins who went to camp from our church. Like the girls, the boys had several activities such as: sports, rockets, water polo, ping pong and archery they were able to choose to be in. They also were able to swim in the lake (with canoeing, paddle boats, and a blob) or pool, work on a community project, and attend chapel two times each day.The theme for this year's camp was Make a Splash for Jesus. Guest speaker was Wesley Phillips who kept the boys interested by sharing several Bible stories involving water.
